Acceso PanAm (APA) is an international non-profit organization founded in 2009, dedicated to preserving and maintaining access to climbing and mountaineering areas throughout Latin America.

To ensure free access and the protection of climbing and mountaineering environments, APA uses a variety of strategies, including direct action in Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Argentina, and the empowerment of local climbing organizations in other countries.

How was Acceso PanAm created?

For three days in August 2009, under the granite walls of Squamish, British Columbia, access advocates from Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Canada, and the United States gathered to talk and discuss the challenges faced by climbers across the Americas. This meeting was sponsored by the Petzl Foundation and supported by the Squamish Mountain Festival.

As a result, Acceso PanAm (APA) was formed through the joint efforts of climbers, climbing organizations and federations, outdoor recreation clubs, and interested businesses.
