Access negotiations:

This involves promoting access to climbing and mountaineering areas in Latin America on public lands, protected areas, or private properties, including sport climbing, traditional climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, big walls, and bouldering.

Mountain area management and conservation:

Acceso PanAm works to promote the conservation of mountaineering areas, addressing everything from micro-trash on boulders to large hydroelectric constructions. The goal is to prevent and minimize damage to, manage effectively, and restore these areas.

Public policies in protected areas:

Many climbing and mountaineering areas are located on public lands managed by authorities who may lack experience or understanding of mountaineering and climbing principles and values. Acceso PanAm seeks to establish coalitions between these authorities and climbing/mountaineering organizations.

Climber and mountaineer education:

This line of work focuses on promoting responsible behaviors and attitudes among climbers and mountaineers to minimize environmental impact. It encourages acting responsibly and promoting community education.

Training and empowerment:

This involves training local climbers, mountaineers, and organizations to act on access and conservation issues, based on our core belief that local people are best equipped to defend their environments.
